Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Completion of the Appalachian Trail

Hike to where the last section of the 2,100+ mile Appalachian Trail was completed 75 years ago! On Saturday, August 18, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts will gather in Carrabassett Valley, Maine to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the completion of the Appalachian Trail. The day will feature group hikes to a plaque between Spaulding and Sugarloaf Mountains that marks the location of the completion of the trail by a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crew 75 years ago this coming August. as well as an evening ceremony and BBQ to mark the occasion. Hikers are invited to sign a special 75th Anniversary register and add their name to A.T. history. A shuttle bus and/or Sugarloaf chairlift will ease the elevation gain. Event information is available at http://matc.org/wordpress/at75 and registration is available at http://at75thanniversarymaine.eventbrite.com
