Quill Hill in fall.
The High Peaks region recently had a great win for conservation and land access in the Barnjum area between Rangeley and Kingfield. In May Trust for Public Land, The Nature Conservancy in Maine, and the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands announced the $11 million conservation project that projects 13,640 acres in two locations: Quill Hill and Perham Stream.
“It’s great news on the Quill Hill side of things, protecting the ATV and snowmobile trails as part of the easement,” West [of High Peaks Alliance] said. “Locals had a voice in this project. A lot of local uses and traditional uses were planned for.”
