Fly Rod Crosby Carving Event at IF&W Building Augusta Maine
An exciting, new, life-sized carving of Fly Rod Crosby, a 2017 inductee to the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame, has found a home in Maine’s Inland Fisheries and Wildlife building in Augusta. Thanks to the High Peaks Alliance of Franklin County and two generous donors, this six-foot, one- of-a-kind likeness by artist Brian Stockman of New Hampshire, is available for public viewing.
The event will feature a short presentation by Earle Shettleworth, Maine’s State Historian and retired director of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, to the IF&W Advisory Council followed by an opportunity for public viewing. You can attend the Advisory Council Meeting and short Presentation live or virtually by contacting Becky Orff at [email protected] The lobby viewing will feature the carving with a song, The Ballad of Fly Rod Crosby, composed by Bud Godsoe and Stan Keach and sung by Julie Davenport of Maine’s Sandy River Ramblers. Additionally, it is rumored that there will be a surprise appearance of a Fly Rod Crosby look-alike. Join us in Augusta on February 14, 2023 at 10:15. What An event to celebrate a life-size carving of Maine’s celebrated first Maine Guide which is now housed in the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Building in Augusta, Maine. There will be a short presentation to the Advisory Council of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife at 10:15 followed by a viewing of the statue in the Maine IF&W lobby. The event is open to the public.
