Phillips, The High Peaks Alliance (HPA) was recently awarded a grant from the Maine Community Foundation to create a High Peaks Trails Plan. The purpose of the plan is to work with the trails community to collaboratively develop a regional vision for recreation in the High Peaks, and help HPA better identify and support conservation projects which feature public access.
The High Peaks Alliance is a small non-profit organization working to ensure and enhance public access to recreation in Maine’s High Peaks (the region bounded by routes 4, 27, 16, & 142). The High Peaks Region is already home to wonderful motorized and non-motorized trail systems, generously hosted by public and private land-owners and maintained by dedicated volunteers. The Trails Plan will not promote or plan trails on private land without the landowner’s permission.
If you are a trail user, please visit and tell us what are your favorite trails and why. If you are a landowner graciously hosting a trail, please tell us about your experiences. Working together, we can improve trails in the High Peaks Region and make sure they are a viable economic and recreational resource that will be available for future generations of hikers, bikers, skiers, snowmobile & ATV riders.
