Strengthening Conservation and Community
Spanning 1.3 million acres of internationally significant habitat, the High Peaks Alliance works at the heart of conservation, recreation, and economic resilience. Our efforts are built on partnerships with local stakeholders, municipalities, and outdoor groups to conserve natural resources and create inclusive outdoor opportunities for all.
“This grant is a testament to the importance of collaborative conservation in Maine’s High Peaks,” said Amanda Laliberte, Director of Engagement for the Alliance. “With Momentum Conservation’s support, we can continue to expand access to the outdoors, steward our region’s trails, and ensure that the benefits of nature are available to everyone, now and for future generations.”
Momentum Conservation’s Land Trust Grant Fund supports Maine land trusts that are committed to innovative, equitable, and community-centered conservation. High Peaks Alliance was selected for its leadership in centering community voices, advancing equity in outdoor access, and pioneering new approaches to land stewardship.
With this grant, we’ll be able to:
-
Strengthen capacity to protect natural resources
-
Maintain and improve public trails
-
Deliver inclusive outdoor programs for residents and visitors
-
Support new initiatives that make the outdoors accessible to all
This grant from Momentum Conservation is more than just funding—it’s a vote of confidence in our vision for the High Peaks. We’re energized to continue our work, ensuring that everyone can experience the beauty and benefits of our wild places.
