January Kickoff at Phillips Library
We kicked things off on January 14 at Phillips Public Library with “Ecological Principles,” led by certified Maine Master Naturalists Darin Schwartz and Vicky Charbonneau. They unpacked High Peaks ecosystems for adults and older teens in an engaging indoor session.
Vicky Charbonneau from Eustis brings her passion for discovery, saying, “Learn as much as we can to spark others’ passion for the wild.” Her co-leader, Darin Schwartz from Avon, adds a fresh outdoor lens, “Every session brings discoveries.” Both are certified Maine Master Naturalists ready to deepen your connection to the region.
Mark your calendar for February 11: “Mammals of Maine: Tracking” at Bigelow Preserve in Stratton (School St.). Expect hands-on snow tracking to spot prints, scat, and wildlife signs.
These free monthly events happen every second Wednesday from 10 AM – 11:30ish AM. Register early, space is limited.
A huge shout-out to Phillips Public Library for hosting us. They’ll also welcome us back in March and December!
