Welcoming A New Face
High Peaks Alliance is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael DeCarolis to our Board of Directors. Dr. DeCarolis brings a rare combination of medical expertise, wilderness training, and a lifelong passion for the outdoors to our organization’s leadership.

Dr. Michael DeCarolis
Dr. DeCarolis is a licensed emergency medicine physician based in Farmington with advanced training in wilderness medicine through Yale University. He also completed a fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and holds a diploma in mountain medicine from the Wilderness Medicine Society. His professional interests include education, environmental toxicology, and glaciated alpine and mountaineering-based search and rescue. In addition to his medical work, Dr. DeCarolis is a published author and educator.
Outside of his profession, Dr. DeCarolis is an avid outdoorsman and backpacker. He has completed the Appalachian Trail and climbed all 100 highest mountains in New England. He also enjoys kayaking, fishing, hunting, foraging, and wildlife and landscape photography.
