Doug Dunlap

Doug Dunlap is an experienced hiker and outdoor enthusiast with over 40 years of dedication to exploring the Western Mountains of Maine. He is an expert in Franklin County and neighboring regions, having authored five guidebooks. Currently, Doug is working on his latest book, “Hiking Maine’s Four Thousand Footers.” He has also completed the Long Trail in Vermont and hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, showcasing his love for long-distance hiking. Living on an old Maine farm, Doug and his wife tend to honeybees, reflecting their commitment to nature and sustainable living. Doug’s expertise led him to become a former Outward Bound Instructor and a Registered Maine Guide, sharing his knowledge and guiding others safely in the wilderness. Overall, Doug Dunlap’s biography highlights his extensive experience as a hiker, author, environmentalist, and outdoor educator. His dedication to the natural world and passion for sharing knowledge make him a respected figure in the hiking community.
