The Local Voice in Land Conservation | High Peaks Region Maine
South Crocker Mountain
Elevation: 4,050 feet Distance: 5.2 miles round-trip Location: Carrabassett Valley
South Crocker Mountain, a sibling of Crocker Mountain (#2), reaches a summit of 4,050 feet and is crossed by the Appalachian Trail. Nestled between Crocker and South Crocker Mountain lies the picturesque Crocker Cirque, a glacial hiking cirque adorned with a charming small pond. Among Maine’s 4,000-foot peaks, South Crocker is considered one of the easiest to conquer. The initial mile of the hike is relatively flat, providing a gentle start. However, as you progress, the incline gradually becomes steeper in certain sections.
