Partnership: Narrow Gauge Snowmobile Club

A Local Gem Hidden in Plain Sight | Scott Paul Park | High Peaks Alliance

A Local Gem Hidden in Plain Sight

The Scott Paul Park features a multi-model trail that connects recreation through town. The trail suffered severe storm damage throughout the winter of 2023-24, with a bridge and sections of the trail washing out.

The High Peaks Alliance worked with the local snowmobile club and volunteers to rebuild the bridge and trail.

Remembering Local Heros

Lance Corporal Scott B. Paul, the park’s namesake, was a brave Marine who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country. The park is a lasting tribute to his memory and the sacrifices made by all veterans.

Located in the lower portion of the park, the Richard Parker Memorial Wing is a significant feature that adds historical depth to the park. Situated on Burbank Hill, this memorial wing pays tribute to Richard Parker, a local hero who fought for freedom. The highlight of this memorial is the “Stairway to Freedom,” a 160-step staircase that connects the two portions of the park. As you ascend the steps, you can reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought for our country’s freedom.
