Please join us for a free spaghetti dinner and learn more about an exciting new AmeriCorps project in this community sponsored by the SRLT and the HPA, set to kick off in January 2010 ~ aimed at planning, developing, and implementing the new ‘Fly Rod Crosby’ walking trail through western Maine from Strong to Oquossoc. Talk to board members of these two organizations, meet our AmeriCorps project volunteer, view maps of the high peaks area and enjoy a free meal with us, as we trace the life and path of our own Cornelia “Fly Rod” Crosby, Maine’s first professional outdoor Guide.
The Sandy River Land Trust and the High Peaks Alliance are two community volunteer organizations interested in land stewardship, conservation and preserving public access to our area of the “High Peaks” region. Learn more about these organizations, the unique landscape of western Maine and its cultural and historical heritage, and community GIS mapping efforts at this free public event.
The Mt. Abram High School Class of 2010 will be collecting your contributions of canned food items at this event for their senior class food drive and will make a large donation to local food pantries. Please bring your canned item(s) to the dinner to help Mt. Abram seniors help others in the community.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – is not a day off, but “a Day ON!”
All food for this free public event is being donated by the surrounding community.
Come enjoy a spaghetti dinner with a variety of homemade bread, salads, and desserts.
