Planning the Future

Bequests

Include High Peaks Alliance in your will or living trust. It’s simple to add us as a beneficiary, and you can change your plans at any time. Your gift will help protect the High Peaks for generations to come.

Beneficiary Designations

Name High Peaks Alliance as a beneficiary on your retirement accounts, IRAs, life insurance policies, or bank accounts. This is a quick update with your financial institution that won’t affect your current finances.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Give a gift now and receive income for life in return. This option provides you or a loved one with steady payments while supporting High Peaks conservation.

Gifts of Personal Property or Valuable Assets

Donate valuable items like artwork, jewelry, or collectibles. These gifts can support our mission and may offer tax benefits while allowing you to pass on items you no longer need.

Gifts of Real Estate or Land

Protect special places by donating property. Whether it’s land you own outright or through arrangements like retained life estates, these gifts help conserve the natural beauty of the High Peaks.

Charitable Trusts

Set up a trust that provides income to you or your loved ones during your lifetime, with the remainder going to High Peaks Alliance. Trusts involve more planning but offer significant benefits and flexibility.

Cathy Haines: A Legacy

Cathy’s journey from landowner to steward represents an evolution in how we connect with the natural world. Over decades, she has cross-country skied groomed winter trails, built shelters with family, camped in all seasons, and witnessed the changing landscape through storms and floods. Her planned gift of land protects it from being closed off to public access, a powerful testament to conservation and community in a time when so much land is being posted or restricted.

Why Cathy Chose to Leave a Legacy:

  • To protect the lands and trails she has loved and cared for over a lifetime
  • To ensure that the woods remain open and accessible for future generations to explore
  • To stand against increasing land closures and safeguard public access

Like Cathy, you can create a meaningful legacy gift that ensures this wild and cherished landscape remains protected and accessible forever. We’re here to help you explore how planned giving can work for you. Read more about Cathy’s decision in her “Voices of the High Peaks” interview.
