Introducing HPA's 2025 Rockefeller Conservation Intern
High Peaks Alliance is thrilled to introduce Emily Kidd as this year’s Maine Coast Heritage Trust Rockefeller Conservation Intern, joining HPA following her graduation from the University of Maine with a degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education and a concentration in Outdoor Leadership.

Say Hello to Emily
Emily grew up on her family’s small farm in Western Maine and exploring mountains like Bigelow and Tumbledown, experiences that gave her a deep appreciation for the High Peaks landscape and the communities that surround it.
“I was inspired to get involved with HPA so I could give back to a community that gave so much to me,” Emily shares. “Growing up in a rural area surrounded by Maine’s high peaks allowed me to become the outdoor enthusiast I am today, and I’m excited to work with HPA to share the amazing opportunities in the region and to help maintain trails that are a gateway to the outdoors for local communities.”
This summer, Emily will help lead a full slate of community events and stewardship days, including a Tree ID Walk (6/10), July 3rd in the Park (7/3), several Scenic 7 hikes with TRAC, and two Volunteer Trail Work Days (6/12 and 7/10, with rain dates), in addition to focused office and project work.
Through her work with High Peaks Alliance this season, Emily looks forward to helping more people build appreciation and respect for the natural resources of the High Peaks region. Her guiding and outdoor leadership experience, combined with her deep local roots, make her a strong addition to HPA’s efforts to expand and care for trail access in Western Maine.
