High Peaks Alliance has received a $10,000 project grant from the Onion Foundation to expand nature learning opportunities at the Bernard & Jean Kinney Family Forest in Farmington.

The grant will support hands-on forestry education, youth programming, and community engagement. In partnership with Foster Tech Center, students will gain real-world experience in sustainable forestry and forest management while helping develop a plan for the site.

The project will also include community workshops, youth programs, and family nature walks designed to deepen public connection to the forest and strengthen long-term stewardship.

High Peaks Alliance is grateful to the Onion Foundation for supporting work that connects conservation, education, and community in Maine’s High Peaks.
