Celebrating Our High Peaks Community
On Saturday evening, supporters and volunteers of the High Peaks Alliance gathered at the High Peaks Artisans Guild in Kingfield for our annual High Peaks Appreciation Gathering. About 35 people joined us for an evening of camaraderie, reflection, and gratitude as we celebrated the people who make our work possible.
We took a few moments to recognize and thank outgoing board members Dana Bowman and Darryl Woods for their many contributions to the Alliance. Their dedication and leadership have helped carry forward our mission of connecting people to Maine’s High Peaks through conservation and recreation.
Outgoing president Lloyd Griscom was also honored for his years of service and steady leadership. In appreciation, Lloyd received a beautiful Nora West painting, “Magic of the Mountains,” featuring the Perham Stream Birding Trail, a fitting tribute to his love of the outdoors and commitment to this special region.

The Spirit of Fly Rod
This 2025 Spirit of the Fly Rod Crosby Award went to Rob Woodhouse, recognizing his volunteerism at Shiloh Pond Community Forest and beyond. We also celebrated Bud Godsoe, the 2024 Spirit of Fly Rod Crosby Award recipient, for his tireless work constructing and maintaining the Fly Rod Crosby Trail.
It was wonderful to see old friends, meet new faces, and reflect on another year of shared accomplishments. A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us, and to all who give their time, talent, and resources to support the High Peaks Alliance. Your dedication makes our work possible, from conserving wild landscapes to maintaining trails and connecting communities. Together, we’re ensuring Maine’s High Peaks remain a place to explore, enjoy, and protect for generations.
