The High Peaks Alliance’s Recreation Ranger stewards some of the most breathtaking landscapes in our region, including the Perham Stream Birding Trail, the Fly Rod Crosby Trail, and the State of Maine’s Bigelow Preserve.

Updates from Matt
Over the last several weeks I have been continuing to maintain campsites and public access areas along Flagstaff Lake. As expected, July has seen a greater increase in the use of these sites, and busier areas such as Myers Lodge and Trout Brook have required labor-intensive cleanups. Big Eddy and Round Barn, two heavily trafficked sites, now fall under my responsibility for maintenance.
I’m also continuing corridor-clearing efforts on the Fly Rod Crosby Trail and am planning for our next volunteer outing in August (see above).
With the help of HPA Director, Kathy Houston, I established several reroutes on the waterfall trail at Shiloh Pond. Thank you to Rob Woodhouse, who generously utilized one of his ATVs to haul in lumber for a couple of sections of bridging for the trail as well.
Cheers!
