We will gather with heavy hearts on May 26 to remember and celebrate the life of Elizabeth “Betsy” Squibb, a dedicated board member who left a lasting impact on our community. Betsy’s life will be celebrated at Reeds Mill Church in Madrid, at 2 pm, on Sunday, May 26th. There will be some music performances, followed by a time when people will be invited to share stories.
A Lasting Impact
Betsy’s selfless contributions to the High Peaks Alliance and Fly Rod Crosby Trail were emblematic of her unwavering commitment to service and her love for her community.
“Betsy Squibb was integral to the HPA getting started and continuing to this point. As an avid outdoors person, Maine Guide, PHD. Holder, professor, Mother, Wife, and steady Friend, Betsy knew that making an extra effort leads to an excellent result. Bud Godsoe’s creating our HPA Fly Rod Crosby concept and trail from Phillips to Rangeley would have been just another great idea without Betsy’s help to bring it to fruition. We plan to keep what Betsy started to keep growing so that the celebration of her life will continue. Betsy’s commitment to volunteerism was rooted in her deep understanding of the power of community. She recognized that we can create positive change and leave a lasting legacy by coming together and working towards a shared goal.” – Lloyd Griscom, HPA Board President
“Betsy was always able to listen to everyone’s side of an issue and sum up our collective feelings. She did it so well that the only response we could say was, YES. She was always enthusiastic about High Peaks Alliance and ensuring we had a grassroots, inclusive approach. She volunteered to help where she was most needed and was never shy in leading our efforts. I appreciated how well she knew and exemplified our values which was a huge help as I started in this position. Thank you Betsy and we will sure miss you.” – Brent West, HPA Executive Director
