  • Donor Advised Funds
  • Gifts of Stock & Mutual Funds
  • Life Insurance Designations
  • Trusts & Annuities
  • Personal Property

Gifts from IRAs

HPA in your estate planning easily by designating them as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plans. This tax-wise strategy reduces the tax burden on your estate or heirs, allowing you to leave other assets to your loved ones. Simply complete a beneficiary designation form, which requires minimal paperwork and can often be done directly on your retirement plan provider’s website. Start planning for the future now.

Bequests

In-will bequest commitments are the most common planned gift received by HPA. Bequests can be undesignated or designated, specific, conditional, or residual. If you already have established a will, a codicil can be established to make amendments to include HPA as a beneficiary.

Sample bequest language: “I hereby bequeath (specify a percentage of your residuary, amount, or specific property) to High Peaks Alliance, Inc, a nonprofit corporation operating in Farmington, Maine, (Federal Tax ID #27-3160688), for its general use and purpose.

Donor Advised Funds

Establish a donor-advised fund to create a charitable legacy for your family while receiving significant tax savings. Easily set up a named fund to remove year-end giving pressure, maximize tax benefits, and recommend distributions and/or remainder to HPA. Start making a lasting impact today!

Gifts of Stock & Mutual Funds

Take advantage of the stock market by donating appreciated stock and mutual funds to support HPA year-round. By donating this type of stock, you may be able to make a larger contribution compared to cash, furthering your commitment to HPA’s mission. While publicly traded stock is commonly donated, you can also consider giving restricted or closely held stock in the appropriate circumstances. Make a meaningful impact with your stock donations today.

Life Insurance Designations

Designate HPA as a primary or contingent beneficiary of your life insurance policy to support their mission easily. You can also donate a fully paid policy or one with ongoing premium payments. If you decide to continue making premium payments on a policy once transferred to HPA, those payments may be tax-deductible. Explore the benefits of using life insurance to leave a lasting impact with HPA.

Trusts & Annuities

Consider planned gifts that provide income to make a legacy gift to HPA while ensuring an income stream for life. A charitable gift annuity offers secure payments during your lifetime, with the remaining value supporting HPA. A charitable remainder trust provides fixed or variable income for lifetimes or a set term. If you have a charitable trust, think about adding HPA as a beneficiary. Create your conservation legacy today!

Personal Property

Consider donating your art collection, valuables, and possessions to HPA. Contact HPA staff at [email protected] for more information and to confirm if personal property donations can be accepted.
